Infectionarium

Description
Infectionarium is an arena shooter where the player controls a parasite that uses the enemy's attributes and abilities to survive. Alone, the parasite is rather defenseless, but once it latches on to an enemy creature it can fight back. The player gains control of the creature, its special ability, and can have the parasite fire poison globs at other creatures. If the controlled creature dies, or the player gets tired of it, the parasite can hop to another creature and control it instead. If the parasite is hit while not controlling a creature however, it dies and the stage resets. With the addition of join-in-progress cooperative multiplayer, players can work together to fight back the waves and survive in the Infectionarium.

The game is currently being developed as a Senior project over an eight month period with a total of three programmers and one artist. All screenshots here have been taken at a playable prototype stage.

Battle Ball Brawl

Description
Battle Ball Brawl is a physics based platformer/shooter where the player controls a character made of balls and tries to shoot the body parts off of their enemies while jumping from planet to planet. As enemies are defeated, the balls that make up their body fall and bounce around the game world. As parts are shot off, the characters are weakened. Losing a foot will slow a character down, while losing an arm cuts down their firepower. With enhanced weapon arms lying around the game world, the player can replace a lost or even an existing arm for a different weapon. Losing the body ball spells doom however. Lives are unlimited, but time is not. Fight for the highest score in this crazed brawl.

This game was developed as a Junior project over an eight month period with a total of four programmers.

Tunnel Hunt

Description
Tunnel Hunt takes place underground as a fast paced exploration platformer where two adventurers venture to stop a villain building an army under their very feet. To reach him however, they need to fight through his building forces to gain abilities stashed throughout the base. Only with all of these abilities will they be able to reach him and put an end to his plot.

This was a Sophomore project developed over a four month period with a total of four programmers. Each of our original teams fell apart as people dropped out, and we came together halfway through the year to make this game. There are still major bugs in the game, but it was fun for us to play none the less.

3D Spring and Collision Sandbox

Description
This program was for an animation course as an introduction into the challenges of physically based animation. The goal was to create a chain out of springs and objects that would roughly simulate a rope. While creating this I used it as a testing ground for the collision and spring mechanics that would later go into Infectionarium, so it became more than what the original project guidelines required.

Inverse Kinematics

Description
This program was made for the same animation course and the previous program however this one was meant for the study of inverse kinematics in animation. The model can walk over to and reach out at a box placed by the user. Since this was an introductory study, the Cyclic Coordinate Descent method was used over a more accurate Jacobian method. This causes situations where the model takes the most immediate approach to the target and gets stuck in a constraint when there are ways to reach the target. Additionally, the project guidelines prohibited the use of DirectX functions that would handle animation of the model.
